The symbolic enactment of power in the organizations

The symbolic enactment of power in the organizations is a paper, which presents the way directors of cultural institutions build the image of their authority in the awareness of their employees, creating and using different signs (actions or tools). The present monograph relates to the area of management and organization science and it is based on postmodern and semiological understanding of the phenomenon of power. It states an attempt of humanistic approach to the problem, where the cultural aspect plays a significant role. It has an experimental and theoretical nature. In the dissertation the following question is asked: what representation of power do the directors of the cultural centres build in the minds of their employees using the signs they make. On the basis of qualitative research carried out it four cultural centres the following four metaphoric portraits of power execution have been defined: bear, watchman, martinet and chameleon style.
