Information Ecology as research subject of Information Science

W pracy przedstawiono ekologię informacji jako nowy kierunek badań informacji naukowej. Opisano jej związki z innymi dyscyplinami nauki, zwłaszcza z informacją naukową, a także zaprezentowano przedmiot, pole badawcze oraz kierunki badań. Przeanalizowano opisy bibliograficzne pozycji dotyczących ekologii informacji, aby prześledzić trendy badawcze i zmiany ilościowe w piśmiennictwie naukowym dotyczącym nowej dziedziny naukowej. W rezultacie stwierdzono stały wzrost ilości piśmiennictwa dotyczącego nowego kierunku badawczego.

The subject of this paper is a newly established subdiscipline called Ecology of Information. The location of this new field of knowledge among the others disciplines is described, its object of study and field of research. The connections with other disciplines are presented with special emphasis on its role in the LIS. Bibliographic descriptions from various sources have been analyzed in order to describe changes and trends in literature concerning ecology of information. As a result, it has been observed that number of articles on information ecology is growing, however they are scattered in many periodicals and other sources of information. It is predicted that the number of literature concerning this topics will continue to grow.
