Peter Abelard: his enemies and failings

Praca magisterska "Piotr Abelard i jego wrogowie oraz słabości" składa się z trzech rozdziałów: „Konflikty Abelarda z uczonymi i mnichami”, „Heloiza w życiu Abelarda” oraz „Problem choroby”. Pierwszy rozdział opisuje relacje Piotra Abelarda z jego wrogami, począwszy od nauczycieli (Roscelina z Campiegne, Wilhelma z Champeaux, Anzelma z Laon), kolegów z uczelni, czyli Alberyka z Reims i Lotulfa z Lombardii, aż do św. Bernarda z Clairvaux oraz mnichów z opactw w których przebywał po okaleczeniu: Saint Denis oraz Saint Gildas de Rhuys. W rozdziale drugim znajduje się historia jego relacji z żoną, Heloizą. Trzeci rozdział zawiera najistotniejszy element pracy: sugestię dotycząca stanu psychicznego filozofa w czasie pobytu w opactwie Saint Gildas de Rhuys, a konkretnie uporczywych zaburzeń urojeniowych, zdiagnozowanych na podstawie Międzynarodowej Klasyfikacji Chorób ICD-10.

'Peter Abelard: his enemies and failings' is composed of three chapters: 'Abelards conflicts with scholars and monks', 'Heloise in Abelards life' and 'The problem of disease'. First chapter describes Peter's Abelard relations with his enemies: with his teachers (Roscelin of Campiegne, William of Champeaux, Anselm of Laon), with colegues from uniwersity, that is Alberic of Rheims and Lotulf of Lombardy, until the Saint Bernard of Clairvaux and monks from abbeys he has stayed there after the mutilation: Saint Denis and Saint Gildas de Rhuys. In chapter two there is there is a history of his relationship with his wife, Heloise. Third chapter contains the most significant element of this work: the suggestion concerns the mental condition of the philosopher during his stay in the Saint Gildas de Rhuys abbey. There were persistent delusional disorders diagnosed on the basis of the International Classification od Diseases ICD-10.
