Singapore in Political Thought of Lee Kuan Yew

Przedmiotem badań w niniejszej pracy jest myśl polityczna Lee Kuan Yewa i jego wizja rozwoju społeczno-politycznego Singapuru. Problemy badawcze z kolei dotyczą wpływu singapurskich czynników historycznych oraz konfucjanizmu na kształtowanie się tej myśli. Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia zagadnienia teoretyczne związane z terminem “myśl polityczna”. Podjęto próbę definiowania pojęcia oraz określenia jego głównych cech. W drugim rozdziale omówiono historię Singapuru z szczególnym uwzględnieniem wydarzeń i warunków, które wpłynęły na rozwój myśli politycznej w kraju. Trzeci rozdział skupia się na myśli politycznej Lee Kuan Yewa, biorąc pod uwagę problematykę rozwoju konfucjanizmu w Singapurze. Ponadto przeprowadzono krytyczną analizę koncepcji “wartości azjatyckich”. W zakończeniu zawarte są wnioski, wyniki weryfikacji hipotezy głównej oraz rozwiązanie głównego problemu badawczego.

The main subject of this thesis is political thought of Lee Kuan Yew and politician’s views on sociopolitical development of Singapore. The research problem exemines the influence of Singaporean historical experience and Confucianism on the development of his political thought. The first chapter represents the theoretical issues connected to political thought. The term is defined and it’s features are set out. In the second chapter the history of Singapore is illustrated with the particular analysis of the events and conditions, which took a major role in in the development of political thought in the country. The third chapter is being focused on the political thought of Lee Kuan Yew while identifying the problematic aspects of developing of Confucianism in Singapore. Moreover the concept of “Asian values” is critically analyzed. The conclusion contains findings, results of verification of hypothesis and the solution of research problem.
