Post-Keynesian Economics is a heterodox school of thought founded by a woman, Joan Robinson. However, the significant contributions of women economists to this school are often overlooked. Furthermore, its theory of monetary production does not easily accommodate topics that place women at the centre of inquiry. This chapter discusses two main issues. First, it explains the unique contributions of women to the development of this school, with particular attention given to the methodological contributions made by Victoria Chick and Sheila C. Dow. Second, it explores the extent to which ‘women's issues’ are studied by Post-Keynesian economists. The argument presented is that to study the position of women in the economy, Post-Keynesian inquiry needs to be integrated with the institutionalist perspective, as exemplified by Ann Jennings and Zdravka Todorova.
