An Existential Analysis of the Foundations of Ethics

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest zagadnieniu podstaw etyki i jej analizie z perspektywy wybranych ujęć Martina Heideggera i Emmanuela Levinasa. Pierwszy rozdział to omówienie zagadnień pierwotnego uwarunkowania podmiotu etycznego w świecie. Drugi rozdział to analiza implikacji owego uwarunkowania na sferę podejmowania wyborów przez podmiot. Rozdział trzeci i czwarty rozwijają perspektywę tożsamości narracyjnej i prowadzą dalszą ewaluację kwestii podmiotowościowych. Rozdział zamykający pracę stanowi sumę dotychczasowych wniosków oraz jest propozycją możliwej interpretacji kwestii zależności pomiędzy egzystencjalnie uwarunkowaną strukturą podmiotu a jego możliwym wejściem w obręb etyki i odpowiedzialności.

This thesis is devoted to the foundations of ethics and their analysis from the perspective of selected approaches developed by Martin Heidegger and Emmanuel Levinas. The first chapter discusses the problem of the primordial conditioning of the ethical subject within the world. The second chapter examines the implications of this conditioning for the sphere of decision-making by the subject. The third and fourth chapters expand upon the perspective of narrative identity and provide a further evaluation of issues concerning subjectivity. The final chapter brings together the conclusions drawn thus far and offers a possible interpretation of the relationship between the existentially conditioned structure of the subject and its potential entry into the domain of ethics and responsibility.
