Coats of Arms of the Province, Counties, and Cities with County Rights in Silesia

Niniejsza praca dotyczy współczesnej heraldyki samorządowej szczebla wojewódzkiego i powiatowego w województwie śląskim. Analizie poddano herby województwa, powiatów ziemskich oraz miast na prawach powiatu, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ich spójności, poprawności heraldycznej oraz sposobu graficznego przedstawienia. Oceniono także znaczenie reformy administracyjnej z 1999 roku dla obecnego kształtu heraldyki samorządowej. Celem pracy jest wskazanie mocnych i słabych stron systemu identyfikacyjnego oraz refleksja nad świadomością heraldyczną wśród społeczności lokalnej.

This thesis examines contemporary heraldry at the county and provincial levels in the Silesian Voivodeship. The analysis focuses on the coats of arms of the voivodeship, land counties, and cities with county rights, with particular attention to their consistency, heraldic correctness, and graphic representation. The study also considers the impact of the 1999 administrative reform on the current state of local heraldry. The aim of the thesis is to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the identification system and to reflect on the level of heraldic awareness within local communities.
