A comparison of translations of song lyrics from “Moana”.

Niniejsza praca skupia się na porównaniu tłumaczenia na polski i francuski tekstów wybranych piosenek z bajki „Moana” (pol. „Vaiana : Skarb Oceanu”). Analiza skupia się na zmianach semantycznych oraz na relacji jaka zachodzi między tekstem i obrazem, natomiast techniczne aspekty związane z muzyką utworów zostały pominięte. W części teoretycznej zostały poruszone problemy związane z tłumaczeniem audiowizualnym, tłumaczeniem tekstów kierowanych do dzieci oraz tłumaczenie piosenek. W części praktycznej w pierwszej kolejności, została przybliżona fabuła filmu oraz aspekty kulturowe potrzebne do zrozumienia kontekstu, a następnie została przeprowadzona analiza wybranych fragmentów piosenek. Druga część pracy skupia się w dużej mierze na możliwości wykorzystania obrazów do zachowania sensu przekazu i zaproponowania alternatywnego tłumaczenia.

The present bachelor’s thesis concentrates on the comparison of the Polish and French translations of selected song lyrics from “Moana”. The analysis focuses on semantic changes of the text as well as on the relationship between text and image. The technical aspects concerning the music of the songs have been excluded. The theoretical part discusses issues related to audiovisual translation, the translation of texts created for children, and song translation. In the practical part, the film’s plot and cultural elements necessary for understanding the context are introduced first, followed by an analysis of selected passages of the songs. The second part of the thesis focuses largely on the possibility of using images to preserve the meaning of the message and to propose an alternative translation.

Le présent mémoire se concentre sur la comparaison des traductions polonaise et française des chansons dans le dessin animé « Moana » (fr. « Vaiana : La légende du bout du monde »). L’analyse porte sur les changements sémantiques ainsi que sur la relation entre le texte et l’image plutôt que sur des aspects musicaux plus techniques. La partie théorique aborde les problèmes liés à la traduction audiovisuelle, à la traduction de textes destinés aux enfants ainsi qu’à la traduction de chansons. La partie pratique commence par une présentation de l’intrigue du dessin animé et des éléments culturels permettant de comprendre le contexte, suivie d’une analyse de passages choisis de chansons. La deuxième partie se concentre, en grande partie, sur la possibilité de se servir des images pour préserver le sens du message et proposer une traduction alternative.
