The role of non-governmental organizations in the fight against human trafficking in Europe

Praca licencjacka koncentruje się na analizie roli organizacji pozarządowych w walce z handlem ludźmi w Europie. Przedstawia skalę zjawiska, jego formy oraz wpływ migracji i konfliktów zbrojnych na rozwój tego przestępstwa. Praca analizuje również dokumenty międzynarodowe i unijne, takie jak paryskie konwencje dotyczące zwalczania handlu żywym towarem, Protokół z Palermo oraz dyrektywy Parlamentu Europejskiego i Rady w sprawie zapobiegania handlowi ludźmi i zwalczania tego procederu oraz ochrony ofiar.Szczegółową uwagę poświęcono czterem organizacjom: Anti-Slavery International, Amnesty International, La Strada International oraz Human Rights Watch. Organizacje te wspierają ofiary handlu ludźmi, także prowadzą działania edukacyjne, monitorujące, prewencyjne i lobbingowe. Podkreślono ich kluczową rolę w identyfikowaniu ofiar i przeciwdziałaniu stygmatyzacji. W pracy omówiono również znaczenie współpracy międzynarodowej oraz finansowania działań organizacji pozarządowych. Wskazuję się na potrzebę dalszych badań i wsparcia politycznego dla tych organizacji. Praca potwierdza postawioną hipotezę, że organizacje pozarządowe odgrywają kluczową rolę w przeciwdziałaniu handlowi ludźmi w Europie poprzez prowadzenie działań prewencyjnych, wsparcie ofiar oraz inicjowanie zmian legislacyjnych na poziomie krajowym i międzynarodowym, a tym samym ich działania znacznie wykraczają poza jedynie bycie siłą pomocniczą względem państw czy organizacji międzynarodowych.

The bachelor dissertation focuses on the analysis of the role of NGOs in the fight against human trafficking in Europe. It presents the scale of the phenomenon, its forms and the impact of migration and armed conflict on the development of this crime. The work also analyzes international and EU documents, such as the Paris conventions on Combating Trafficking in human beings, the Palermo Protocol, the directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on preventing and Combating Trafficking in human beings and on the protection of victims.Four organisations were given specific attention: Anti-Slavery International, Amnesty International, La Strada International and Human Rights Watch. These organizations support victims of human trafficking, as well as conduct educational, monitoring and lobbying activities. Their key role in identifying victims and countering stigmatisation has been highlighted. The dissertation also discusses the importance of international cooperation and the financing of non-governmental organizations. And point to the need for further research and policy support for these organisations. The work confirms the hypothesis that NGOs play a key role in the fight against trafficking in human beings in Europe by carrying out preventive actions, supporting victims and initiating legislative changes at the national and international level, and thus their activities go far beyond just being a supporting force to states or international organizations.
