Analysis of the concept of "homo sovieticus" in modern Ukrainian literature.

Praca dotyczy analizy zjawiska homo sovieticus w literaturze współczesnej Ukrainy, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem twórczości Wiktorii Ameliny. Główne pytanie badawcze dotyczy tego, w jaki sposób postać człowieka ukształtowanego przez rzeczywistość sowiecką została ukazana i zinterpretowana w dwóch powieściach autorki: "Syndrom łystopadu abo Compatiens Homo" oraz "Dom dla Doma".W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiono najważniejsze koncepcje teoretyczne dotyczące homo sovieticus, opierając się na tekstach A. Zinowiewa, J. Tischnera, M. Gellera i J. Turowicza. Wskazano, że nie jest to pojęcie jednoznaczne. Druga część pracy poświęcona została analizie utworów Ameliny. Zwrócono uwagę na proces przemiany bohaterów, którzy stopniowo odchodzą od wzorców myślenia charakterystycznych dla homo sovieticus i rozwijają w sobie zdolność do empatii, odpowiedzialności i działania.Wnioski płynące z badania wskazują, że homo sovieticus nie zniknął wraz z upadkiem ZSRR. Jego wpływ pozostaje obecny w świadomości społecznej i strukturach rodzinnych. Jednak literatura może być narzędziem transformacji, ponieważ demonstruje ten problem i oferuje sposoby jego rozwiązania.

This work analyzes the phenomenon of homo sovieticus in contemporary Ukrainian literature, with particular emphasis on the works of Viktoria Amelina. The main research question concerns how the character of a person shaped by Soviet reality was portrayed and interpreted in two of the author's novels: “Syndrom łystopadu abo Compatiens Homo” and “Dom dla Doma.”The first chapter presents the most important theoretical concepts related to homo sovieticus, based on the texts of A. Zinoviev, J. Tischner, M. Geller, and J. Turovich. It is pointed out that this is not an unambiguous concept but a socio-cultural construct shaped by a political reality. The second part of the work is devoted to the analysis of Amelina's works. Attention is drawn to the process of transformation of the characters, who gradually move away from the patterns of thinking like homo sovieticus to personalities that develop the ability to empathize, take responsibility, and act.The conclusions of the study indicates that homo sovieticus did not disappear with the collapse of the USSR. Its influence remains present in social consciousness and family structures. However, literature can be a tool for transformation, as it demonstrates this problem and offers ways to solve it.
