The role of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, in the war in Ukraine in 2014-2022 – selected aspects

Prezydent Republiki Białoruś Aleksandr Łukaszenka jako głowa państwa białoruskiego próbował odegrać rolę rozjemcy w konflikcie zbrojnym między Federacją Rosyjską a Ukrainą. W pierwszym okresie wojny (tj. od 2014 do 2015 roku) prezydent Republiki Białoruś zorganizował spotkania robocze w Mińsku, w ramach których próbowano uregulować rosyjsko-ukraiński konflikt. Jednak ostatecznie stronom nie udało się rozwiązać konfliktu. Z kolei od rozpoczęcia pełnoskalowej wojny 24 lutego 2022 roku Republika Białoruś na czele z prezydentem Aleksandrem Łukaszenką stała się stroną konfliktu poprzez udostępnienie białoruskiego terytorium rosyjskiej armii do bezprawnego wkorczenia na terytorium suwerennego państwa ukraińskiego.

President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, as the head of the Belarusian state, tried to play the role of a mediator in the armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. In the first period of the war (i.e. from 2014 to 2015), the President of the Republic of Belarus organized working meetings in Minsk, during which attempts were made to regulate the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. However, the parties ultimately failed to resolve the conflict. In turn, since the outbreak of the full-scale war on February 24, 2022, the Republic of Belarus, headed by President Alexander Lukashenko, has become a party to the conflict by providing the Belarusian territory for the Russian army to illegally enter the territory of the sovereign Ukrainian state.
