The impact of clusters on innovation in the region based on the example of Warminsko-Mazurskie and Malopolskie voivodships

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie istoty klastrów i uwarunkowań innowacyjności w regionie oraz identyfikacja wpływu klastrów na poziom innowacyjności województw na przykładzie województw małopolskiego i warmińsko-mazurskiego. Zastosowano metodę analizy danych wtórnych, pochodzących z publicznych statystyk Polski i Unii Europejskiej. Badano kwestie związane z innowacyjnością, ewolucją i typologią klastrów oraz pomiarem innowacyjności. Przedstawiono wpływ klastrów na innowacyjność na podstawie analizy dwóch polskich województw i stworzono prognozę dla ich dalszego rozwoju. Ustalono, że klastry nie zawsze mają wpływ na innowacyjność województwa, a ich rola i funkcja jaką pełnią w gospodarce regionalnej zależy od sposobu ich wykorzystania. Klastry mogą służyć jako narzędzie wsparcia rozwoju innowacyjności w regionie ułatwiając przeprowadzanie badań i innowacyjnych inwestycji. Dzięki nim można budować środowisko sprzyjające powstawaniu innowacji.

The aim of the study is to present the essence of clusters and the determinants of innovation in the region and to identify the impact of clusters on the level of innovation in voivodships on the example of the małopolskie and warmińsko-mazurskie voivodships. The method of analysis of secondary data from public statistics of Poland and the European Union was used. Issues related to innovation, evolution and the typology of clusters as well as measuring innovation were investigated. The impact of clusters on innovation was presented on the basis of the analysis of two Polish voivodships and a forecast for their further development was created. It was established that clusters do not always influence the innovativeness of the voivodeships, and their role and function in the regional economy depends on the way they are used. Clusters can serve as a tool to support the development of innovation in the region, facilitating research and innovative investments. Thanks to them, environment conducive to the emergence of innovation can be build.
