Resistance in jumps : choreographic transformations and reparations of the imagination

Artykuł poświęcony jest zjawisku "choreograficznego przyszłościowania". Autorka opisuje choreografie, które wyrażają sprzeciw wobec putinowskiej agresji na Ukrainę z jednej i solidarność z walczącymi Ukrainkami i Ukraińcami z drugiej strony. Nie analizuje jednak tak zwanych choreografii społecznych, tylko dwa spektakle teatralne - Odbicia (chor. Anna Steller) i Swan Lake Solo (chor. Olga Dukhovnaya), które w 2022 roku były pokazywane na warszawskim festiwalu Ciało/Umysł. W artykule nie są one traktowane jako realizacje artywizmu, lecz jako performanse, które wykorzystują pewne artywistyczne strategie i mobilizują polityczną wyobraźnię. Odwołując się do rozpoznań Sherry Badger Shapiro i Randy’ego Martina, autorka na przykładach wspomnianych choreografii pokazuje, jak taniec staje się "aktem transformacyjnej możliwości" (określenie Shapiro).

This article is devoted to the phenomenon of "choreographic futurizing". The author describes choreographies that express opposition to Putin’s aggression against Ukraine on the one hand and solidarity with the fighting Ukrainians on the other. However, she does not analyze the so-called socialchoreographies, but two theatrical performances: Odbicia [Reflections] (choreog. Anna Steller) and Swan Lake Solo (choreog. Olga Dukhovnaya), which were shown at the 2022 Warsaw Body/Mind Festival. In the article, they are not treated as realizations of artivism, but as performances that use certain artivist strategies and mobilize the political imagination. Referring to the findings of Sherry Badger Shapiro and Randy Martin, the author illustrates, using the examples of the aforementioned choreographies, how dance becomes "an act of transformative possibility " (Shapiro).
