Interactive animal shelter application using the principles of accessibility and UX design

Pomimo rosnącego zainteresowania dostępnością stron internetowych, wiele serwisów wciąż nie spełnia podstawowych wymagań dostępności, co negatywnie wpływa na ich użyteczność dla wszystkich użytkowników. Projekt opisany w niniejszej pracy koncentruje się na stworzeniu funkcjonalnej i dostępnej strony internetowej schroniska dla zwierząt, zgodnej z wytycznymi Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. Celem projektu jest zastosowanie zasad dostępności i User Experience designu w interaktywnej aplikacji internetowej schroniska, aby była dostępna i użyteczna dla wszystkich użytkowników, niezależnie od ich umiejętności czy potrzeb wynikających z niepełnosprawności. Strona uwzględnia kluczowe aspekty dostępności, takie jak obecność tekstów alternatywnych dla treści nietekstowych, odpowiedni kolor i kontrast elementów, obsługa za pomocą klawiatury oraz łatwa nawigacja. Dzięki odpowiedniej strukturze informacji, atrakcyjnemu wyglądowi podstron i rozwiązaniom ułatwiającym nawigację, projekt ma na celu dostarczenie funkcjonalnej platformy dla zarządzania schroniskiem, promującej równość dostępu do informacji i usług internetowych. Aplikacja ma służyć jako model przyjaznego dla różnych użytkowników środowiska online, wyróżniając się spośród innych aplikacji schronisk, które często pomijają kluczowe aspekty dostępności i UX designu. Projekt ten podkreśla znaczenie dostępności w tworzeniu stron internetowych, promując bardziej inkluzywne podejście do tworzenia witryn internetowych.

Despite the growing interest in website accessibility, many websites still do not meet basic accessibility requirements, which negatively affects their usability for all users. The project described in this work focuses on creating a functional and accessible website for an animal shelter, compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. The aim of the project is to apply the principles of accessibility and User Experience design in the shelter's interactive web application to make it accessible and useful to all users, regardless of their skills or needs resulting from disabilities. The website takes into account key accessibility aspects, such as the presence of alternative texts for non-text content, appropriate color and contrast of elements, keyboard operation and easy navigation. Thanks to the appropriate information structure, attractive appearance of subpages and solutions facilitating navigation, the project aims to provide a functional platform for shelter management, promoting equal access to information and Internet services. The app aims to serve as a model for a diverse user-friendly online environment, standing out from other shelter apps that often overlook key aspects of accessibility and UX design. This project highlights the importance of accessibility in website development, promoting a more inclusive approach to website development.
