Intention and intent in the context of the end of human life.

W dzisiejszym świecie w wyniku postępu techniki medycznej dającej lekarzom niespotykany do tej pory poziom kontroli nad ciałem człowieka następuje również potrzeba rewizji kwestii odpowiedzialności ponoszonej przez pracowników służby zdrowia, szczególnie w kontekście końca ludzkiego życia. Celem tej pracy jest analiza stanowisk jakie wykształciły się w dyskusji toczącej się dookoła kwestii udziału lekarza w powodowaniu śmierci pacjenta ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem doktryny podwójnego skutku, jej zastosowania i wpływu jaki wywarła na zarówno prawne jak i moralne rozumienie kwestii odpowiedzialności i zamiaru. Analiza literatury wykazała możliwość klasyfikacji stanowisk z podziałem na kategorie internalistyczną i eksternalistyczną.

In today's world, as a result of advances in medical technology giving doctors an unprecedented level of control over the human body, there is also a need to review the question of the responsibility borne by healthcare professionals, particularly in the context of the end of human life. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the positions that have developed in the debate surrounding the question of a doctor's involvement in causing death of a patient, with particular reference to the doctrine of double effect, its application and the impact it has had on both the legal and moral understanding of the question of responsibility and intent. Analysis of the literature has demonstrated the possibility of classifying positions into internalist and externalist categories.
