Niniejsza praca przedstawia analizę codziennego życia w Korei Północnej w oparciu o zeznania północnokoreańskich zbiegów. To jest kontekstualizowane poprzez obszerną i szczegółową definicje reżimów totalitarnych, przykłady stłumienia widoczne w innych opresyjnych reżimach, badanie historii Korei i przegląd ważnych wydarzeń od czasu powstania Korei Północnej, z których każdy dostarcza wyjaśnienia, dlaczego codzienne życie w Korei Północnej jest tak ekstremalne i niewyobrażalne. Okazuje się, że północnokoreański reżim ma absolutną władzę nad swoimi obywatelami i kontroluje każdy aspekt życia, który jest analizowany w kontekście edukacji, warunków życia i kontroli. Mieszkańcy Korei Północnej doświadczają intensywnej indoktrynacji od najmłodszych lat i podlegają ciągłej propagandzie, co jest możliwe dzięki całkowitemu brakowi sfery prywatnej. Reżim stosuje terror w celu utrzymania kontroli, a system samokontroli gwarantuje, że żaden czyn nie pozostanie niezauważony. Obywatele żyją w strachu przed nieludzkimi, niesprawiedliwymi karami reżimu, takimi jak tortury, publiczne egzekucje i śmiertelne obozy pracy. Celem tej pracy jest pokazanie ekstremalnych warunków, w jakich Północni Koreańczycy żyją na co dzień.

This thesis provides an analysis of everyday life in North Korea based on testimonies from North Korean detectors. It is contextualized by an ample and detailed definition of totalitarian regimes, followed by examples of suppression seen in other oppressive regimes, an examination of Korean history, and an overview of important events since the establishment of North Korea which each supply an explanation as to why everyday life in North Korea is so extreme and inconceivable. It finds that the North Korean regime has absolute power over its people and controls every aspect of life, which are analyzed in the context of education, life conditions, and control. North Korean people experience intense indoctrination from a young age and are subject to constant propaganda, which is made possible by the complete lack of a private sphere. Terror is used by the regime to maintain control and a self-surveilling system ensures that no act goes unseen. Citizens live in fear of being subjected to inhumane, unjust punishments of the regime, such as torture, public execution, and deadly labor camps. The purpose of this thesis is to show the extreme conditions that North Koreans live under in their everyday lives.
