The primary objective of this article is to elucidate the modes of conveying difficult heritage within in situ, ex situ, and virtual situ. The authors endeavor to establish a comparative analysis encompassing three distinct narrative approaches. Of particular significance is the exploration of the affective involvement of the audience in the process of storytelling and a meticulous examination of its attainment and feasibility within the realm of virtual tours. Consequently, the authors undertake the task of addressing the query pertaining to the potential virtual representation of trauma, using three emblematic museum-memory sites as case studies: the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the Museum of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan in Daegu, South Korea, and the Museum of Secret Surveillance: “House of Leaves” in Tirana, Albania.
