"Green" festivals - pro-ecological changes in management of cultural events

Praca licencjacka porusza kwestie wprowadzania ekologicznych zmian podczas organizacji festiwali. Na potrzeby pracy przeprowadzono wywiady z osobami zaangażowanymi w branżę festiwalową oraz wdrażanie ekologii do procesu organizacji wydarzeń. Dokonano przeglądu działań prośrodowiskowych wprowadzanych podczas organizacji festiwali: Pol’and’Rock, Unsound oraz Slot Art Festival. Przedstawiono także analizę SWOT ekologicznych działań prowadzonych na wybranych festiwalach. Podjęto refleksję nad potencjałem kultury w uświadamianiu odbiorców i odbiorczyń na temat katastrofy klimatycznej. Określono korzyści płynące z wprowadzania proekologicznych zmian, a także główne bariery dla ich wdrażania. Do zalet należą m.in wzrost jakości wydarzeń, innowacyjność wprowadzanych rozwiązań oraz wzmocnienie relacji z publicznością. Główne bariery to trudności w pozyskiwaniu funduszy na ekologię, aspekty prawne oraz bariery systemowe. Wyniki badań przełożono na grunt zarządzania strategicznego i zarządzania zmianą, zestawiono także z pojęciami ECSR oraz organizacji uczącej się. Pracę osadzono w paradygmacie interpretatywnym.

The article puts forward the subject of implementation of ecological changes during the organization of festivals. Interviews with people involved in the festival industry and the implementation of ecology during the organization of events were conducted for this study. The Author made a review of ecological actions implemented at festivals such as: Pol’and’Rock, Unsound and Slot Art Festival. Furthermore, SWOT analysis of the implementation of ecological actions during selected festivals was carried out. The aim of the article is to reflect on how culture can make receivers more aware of the climate disaster. Advantages of launching the ecological efforts and the main obstacles for their implementation were determined. Some of the aforementioned advantages are: the improvement of the event’s quality, the innovativeness of new solutions and the intensification of the bond with the audience at festivals. The main obstacles are: the funding of an ecological approach of festivals, legal aspects and systemic barriers. The results of research were corelated with strategic management, change management and the ideas of ECSR and the learning organization. The research paper is embedded in the interpretative paradigm.
