The Gothic chronicles as an encyclopaedia of death

Analysis of the sub-title Borislav Pekić’s short stories collection "Novi Jerusalim" (New Jerusalem) is the starting point to read this gothic chronicles as Palimpsest (according to Gérard Genette’s description and classification). The gender oksimoronic character of this sub-title based on the rational-irrational opposition, the same priciple which appears in a collection of the Danilo Kiš’s short stories is an indication that "Novi Jerusalim" taken as an pastiche of "Enciklopedija mrtvih" (The Encyklopedy of the Death). "Novi Jerusalim"’s dialogical structure is seen in destruction of three cultural myths: the faustic myth, the orphic and the biblical myth. In this way the writer shows different and common places of his own and the Kiš’s poetics connected with problems of an autoidentification, autopoetic and ideology

Анализа функције поднаслова збирке приповедака Борислава Пекића "Нови Јерусалим" је полазна тачка за читање ове готске хронике као палимпсеста (по опису и класификацији Жерара Женета). Оксиморонски карактер оба члана тог генолошког одређења, заснованог на опозицији: рационално-ирационално – истом принципу који се појављује у наслову збирке приповедака Данила Киша – упутство је да се "Нови Јерусалим" третира као пастиш "Енциклопедије мртвих", што потврђују и други елементи Пекићевог дела. Дијалогична структура "Новог Јерусалима" огледа се у деструкцији три велика културолошка мита: фаустовског, орфејског и библијског, којом писац указује на разлике, али и на заједничка места своје и Кишове поетике, повезане са проблемима аутоидентификације, аутопоетике и идеологије
