The Image and Role of Latin Women in Latin American Societies

Głównym celem pracy było opisanie i przedstawienie statusu i roli kobiet latynoskich w społeczeństwach Ameryki Łacińskiej. Przedstawiona została charakterystyka społeczeństwa, wyjaśnione zostały podstawowe terminy dotyczące postaw oraz ukazanie czynników determinujących kobiety. Przedstawiono kształtowanie się wizerunku kobiet na przestrzeni lat oraz przeanalizowano obecną interpretacje zachowań. Problemem głównym niniejszej pracy było pytanie: czy działania, które podjęły kobiety w Ameryce Łacińskiej miały wpływ na zmianę ich statusu społecznego. Przyjęto hipotezę, że wiele czynników z przeszłości złożyło się na kulturową wizję płci w Ameryce Łacińskiej. Liczne argumenty determinują rolę kobiet latynoskich w kontekście tradycyjnych modeli rodzinnych. Ukazano indywidualne studium przypadków, przeanalizowano skalę dyskryminacji kobiet w Ameryce Łacińskiej. Udało się potwierdzić powyższą hipotezę. Prawa obyczajowe, kodeksy, zasady zachowań i wzajemne relacje między obiema płciami potwierdziły tezę o dyskryminacji ze względu na płeć.

The main purpose of the dissertation was to describe and present the status and role of Latin women in Latin American societies. The characteristics of the society was presented, basic terms related to attitudes as well as factors determining women were explained. The image of women over the years was shown and the current interpretation of behaviour was analysed. The main problem that has been confronted in the discourse was the question whether the actions that women took in Latin America had an impact on changing their social status. The hypothesis that many factors from the past had contributed to the cultural vision of gender in Latin America has been adopted. Numerous arguments determine the role of Latin women in the context of traditional family models. Individual case studies were presented and the scale of discrimination against women in Latin America was analysed. The above hypothesis was confirmed. Customs laws, codes, rules of behaviour and mutual relations between both sexes confirmed the thesis about discrimination based on sex.
