The Greater Poland's non-castle starosties and starost's families in the 15th century

Praca "Wielkopolskie starostwa niegrodowe i rodziny starościńskie w XV w." porusza niezbadany dostatecznie problem funkcjonowania starostw niegrodowych w Wielkopolsce oraz zarządzających nimi rodzin starościńskich. W Wielkopolsce w XV w. istniało 28 królewskich kluczy dóbr tworzących starostwa. Z tej liczby 24 były starostwami niegrodowymi, które król oddawał pod zastaw pożyczonych pieniędzy lub jako wyraz wdzięczności. Szerszej analizie pod względem gospodarczym zostało poddanych 10 starostw, celem określenia potencjalnej wartości tych kompleksów dóbr. Na starostę otrzymującego zastawioną mu tenutą spadały obowiązki jurysdykcje nad ludnością tam zamieszkałą i często zobowiązania, które na celu miały podniesienie poziomu ekonomicznego dóbr. Na tym tle często dochodziło do sporów, którym poświęcono więcej miejsca, ze względu na brak omówienia tego zagadnienia w historiografii. Omawiając rodziny starościńskie, postawiono sobie za cel ustalenie, czy i jakie znaczenie miały zastawione przedstawicielom tych rodzin dobra królewskie. Na przykładzie kilku wybranych rodzin dokonano porównania posiadłości prywatnych i majątków otrzymanych w zastawie, a także prześledzono kariery reprezentantów tych rodzin dla pełniejszego określenia pozycji społecznej na arenie lokalnej i ogólnopolskiej.

The thesis "The Greater Poland's non-castle starosties and starost's families in the 15th century" deals with the insufficiently researched problem of the functioning of non-castle starosties in Greater Poland and the starost's families managing them. In Greater Poland, in the 15th century, there were 28 royal keys of the estates forming the eldership. 24 out of this number were non-castle starosties, which the king gave as collateral for borrowed money or as a token of gratitude. 10 starosties were subjected to a broader economic analysis in order to determine the potential value of these property complexes. The staroste receiving the complex pledged to him fell the responsibilities of the jurisdiction over the population living there, and often the obligations aimed at increasing the economic level of the goods. Against this background, there were often disputes over which more minorities were devoted, due to the lack of coverage of this issue in historiography. While discussing the starost's families, the aim was to establish whether and what significance the royal property pledged to the representatives of these families had and what it meant. On the example of a few selected families, a comparison was made of private estates and estates received in pledge, and the careers of representatives of these families were analyzed for a more complete definition of their social position in the local and national arena.
