Managing Subcultural Heritage Using the Example of the Bikiniarze

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest dotychczas niezbadanej kwestii zarządzania dziedzictwem subkultur. Głównym celem autorki było zbadanie dziedzictwa pierwszej polskiej subkultury bikiniarzy i określenie, jak nim zarządzać. Na podstawie analizy literatury opracowano teoretyczny model dobrych praktyk zarządczych. Kluczowe było przyjęcie koncepcji dziedzictwa jako procesu, który jest w ciągłej zmianie i podlega reinterpretacji. Opisano również najważniejsze teorie dotyczące dziedzictwa, zarządzania nim oraz problemy z nim związane, m.in dissonant heritage, UDD, kwestie własności dziedzictwa. Przedstawiono charakterystykę subkultur oraz określono specyficzne cechy zarządzania ich dziedzictwem. Dla pełniejszej klasyfikacji bikiniarzy autorka zaproponowała własną koncepcję grup rozproszonych, włączając do nauk o dziedzictwie społeczności formalnie niezorganizowane. W ramach badań przeprowadzono obszerną analizę literatury naukowej, historycznej i tekstów kultury oraz materiałów audiowizualnych dotyczących bikiniarzy. Dzięki temu zidentyfikowano elementy dziedzictwa tej subkultury. Następnie wykonano studium przypadku czterech współczesnych inicjatyw podtrzymujących dziedzictwo bikiniarzy i oceniono ich praktyki zarządcze w oparciu o wcześniej opracowany model.

This thesis explores the previously unexamined issue of managing the heritage of subcultures. The primary aim of the author was to investigate the heritage of bikiniarze, the first Polish subculture, and to determine effective approaches to its management. Based on an extensive review of the literature, a theoretical model of best management practices was developed. A key conceptual framework is the understanding of heritage as a process that continuously evolves and remains open to reinterpretation. The study also examines key theories concerning heritage, its management, and related issues, including dissonant heritage, AHD, and ownership. Furthermore, the characteristics of subcultures are presented, alongside the specific features of managing their heritage. To better classify the bikiniarze community, the author introduces the concept of dispersed groups, which incorporates unstructured communities into the broader field of heritage studies. The research draws on an extensive analysis of scientific literature, historical sources, cultural texts, and audiovisual materials. This allowed for the identification of key elements constituting the heritage of bikiniarze. A case study of four contemporary initiatives advancing the bikiniarze legacy was then conducted, and their management practices were evaluated using the previously developed model.
