World War II is one of the topics often discussed at school, but due to the fact that it is an event from 80 years ago, the question of the effectiveness of school activities and their impact on young audiences becomes important. The article describes educational workshops based on the memo-ries of people deported to Siberia and survivors of the Holocaust. They were held for five groups of young people using the method of silent conversation and drama called ‘Echoes of voices’. The effect of the classes should be considered highly satisfactory because of the high emotional involvement of the participants and the heated discussions that took place during them. The final task for the students was to write a page of a diary. This task revealed the negligible impact of the workshop on the daily lives of teenagers, just as the measurable effect of other educational projects is small. However, the conclusion for teachers and educators in the contemporary context is to tackle difficult topics in youth work despite the uncertainty that they bring immediate results.
