The aim of the presented analysis was to examine how Swedish translators constructed the unfolding drama of Form in two renderings of Witold Gombrowicz’s Ferdydurke. By comparing specific linguistic solutions used in the distinct “spectacle” layers in the language of the novel, we sought to outline the characteristic strategies each translator used to construct a foreign-language representation of the quintessentially Polish cultural backdrop of Form. The categories under investigation were: diminutives, selected keywords, stylistic blending, as well as neologisms and amplifying repetitions. Keywords: Witold Gombrowicz, Gombrowicz’s philosophy of Form, Ferdydurke in translation, culture-bound translation, linguistic worlds.
