"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" - analysis of the regulations and the path to their adoption

Tematem niniejszej pracy są przepisy i regulacje wprowadzone w 1993 roku w Stanach Zjednoczonych, dotyczące możliwości służby wojskowej dla osób nieheteronormatywnych. Pierwszy rozdział skupia się na historii regulacji wojskowych, a także przepisów prawnych dotyczących służby osób homoseksualnych i biseksualnych przed rokiem 1993. Drugi rozdział opisuje debatę prowadzącą do uchwalenia nowych przepisów wraz z argumentami zwolenników i przeciwników zniesienia obostrzeń oraz dodatkowych badań, które zostały zlecone na potrzeby tej debaty. Ostatni rozdział skupia się na analizie nowych przepisów oraz opisuje trudności, jakie powstały w trakcie ich wprowadzania.

The subject of this work is the laws and regulations introduced in 1993 in the United States regarding the possibility of military service for non-heteronormative persons. The first chapter focuses on the history of military regulations, and legislation on the service of homosexuals and bisexuals before 1993. The second chapter describes the debate leading to the adoption of the new regulations, along with the arguments of supporters and opponents of the abolition of the restrictions, and additional researches that were commissioned for the purpose of this debates. The last chapter focuses on the analysis of the new legislation and describes the difficulties which have arisen in the course of their implementation.
