Depictions of the themes of Christian culture in Japanese animation

W pracy została przedstawiona historia obecności Chrześcijaństwa w Japonii celem późniejszego określenia oraz wyjaśnienia sposobów prezentacji motywów chrześcijańskich w anime. W pierwszym rozdziale ukazane są początki styczności Japonii z Zachodem, pierwsze próby chrystianizacji tego kraju oraz okres rozkwitu religii chrześcijańskiej. Następnie opisano proces prześladowań wyznawców wiary chrześcijańskiej, by przedstawić wyrosłą na tym gruncie religię Kakure Kirishitan, ukazując jej synkretyczny charakter. Druga część pracy skupia się na motywach kultury chrześcijańskiej, pojawiających się w anime. Zostają one podzielone na osobne kategorie, do których będą należeć motywy wspólne. Na podstawie opisu ukazany zostaje synkretyczny sposób łączenia motywów różnych kultur i religii prezentowany przez twórców anime.

The thesis presents the history of the presence of Christianity in Japan in order to later define and explain the ways of presenting Christian themes in the anime. The first part of the thesis presents the beginnings of Japan's contact with the West, the first attempts to Christianize this country and the heyday of the Christian religion. Then, the process of persecution of the followers of the Christian faith is described in order to present the Kakure Kirishitan religion that grew out of it, showing its syncretic nature. The second part of the thesis focuses on the themes of Christian culture appearing in the anime. They are divided into separate categories, which will include common themes. Based on the description, a syncretic way of combining the motives of different cultures and religions presented by the creators of the anime is shown.
