Is Christianity without the resurrection possible? Analysis of modern liberal Christianity.

Celem pracy jest przeanalizowanie koncepcji zmartwychwstania w liberalnym chrześcijaństwie. Zmartwychwstanie jest fundamentalną kategorią dla wiary chrześcijańskiej. Jednakże, w obrębie chrześcijaństwa liberalnego, istnieją silne tendencje do zredukowania znaczenia tego konceptu. Moją tezą jest przekonanie, że chrześcijanie liberalni nie mogą odrzucić zmartwychwstania, jeżeli chcą utrzymać się w ramach głównego nurtu chrześcijaństwa. Praca pokazuje, że jedynym sposobem dla zachowania wiary chrześcijańskiej jest mitologizacja zmartwychwstania.

The aim of this study is to examine category of resurrection in modern liberal Christianity. The resurrection is the fundamental concept of the Christian faith. However, within liberal Christianity exist a strong tendency to reduce the meaning of this concept. My thesis is that liberal Christians cannot reject the resurrection if they do want to stay within the frame of mainline Christianity. The paper shows that the only way to preserve Christian faith is mythologizing the resurrection.
