The image of women in the films of Pedro Almodóvar

W swojej pracy licencjackiej próbuję zanalizować wizerunek kobiet kreowany przez Pedro Almodóvara w jego twórczości filmowej. W pierwszym rozdziale opisuję zagadnienia dotyczące płci w kulturze. Analizuję wzory hiszpańskiej kobiecości oraz sytuację kobiet w Hiszpanii w okresie panowania generała Francisco Franco. W rozdziale drugim koncentruję się na charakterystycznych cechach kina hiszpańskiego w latach 60. i 70., a następnie analizuję zjawisko kulturowe jakim była "La movida madrileña". Opisuję również główne wyznaczniki stylu filmowego Almodóvara. W trzecim rozdziale poddaję analizie jego osiemnaście filmów pełnometrażowych. Opisuję wizerunek matki, relacje między kobietami, emocje towarzyszące kobietom, warstwę estetyczną filmów oraz różnice między kobietami i mężczyznami.

In this thesis I try to analyze the image of women created by Pedro Almodóvar in his film work. In the first chapter I describe gender issues in culture. I analyze Spanish patterns of femininity and the situation of women in Spain during the rule of General Francisco Franco. In the second chapter I focus on the distinctive features of Spanish cinema in the 60s and 70s, and then analyze cultural phenomenon which was "La Movida Madrileña". I also describe the main determinants of Almodóvar's style of filmmaking. In the third chapter I give an analysis of his eighteen films. I describe the image of the mother, the relationship between women, the specific of women' emotions, the aesthetics of his films and the differences between men and women.
