Użycie interpunkcji oraz znaków typograficznych w Internecie na przykładzie Tumblra

Język Internetu znajduje się obecnie w centrum zainteresowania wielu językoznawców. Jednym z jego aspektów, którym jak do tej pory poświęcono stosunkowo mało uwagi, jest interpunkcja oraz użycie znaków typograficznych w nieformalnych sytuacjach Internetowych. Praca ta poświęcona jest analizie tych aspektów na przykładzie platformy mikroblogowej Tumblr. Pierwszy rozdział skupia się na opisie zjawiska blogowania oraz mikroblogowania, oraz na przedstawieniu Tumblra jako środowisko interakcji społecznych. Drugi rozdział omawia komunikację zapośredniczoną internetowo na tle językowym oraz porównuje pismo i mowę jako dwa różne środki komunikacji. Język Internetu jest przedstawiony jako łączący cechy obu tych środków. Ponadto, rozdział ten przedstawia pokrótce slang używany na Tumblrze oraz zasady interpunkcji w języku angielskim. Ostatni rozdział zawiera analizę przykładów zebranych na Tumblrze. Jego celem jest wykazanie powtarzalnych schematów przejawiających się w niestandardowym użyciu interpunkcji oraz innych znaków specjalnych. Praca pokazuje także, że zasady gramatyki są łamane przez użytkowników w sposób świadomy, oraz że jest to sposób na ułatwienie oraz wzbogacenie procesu komunikacji.

The language of the Internet is currently the focus of many linguists. One aspect that has received relatively little attention by far is the use of punctuation and various typographical symbols in informal Internet contexts. This work is devoted to the study of these aspects on the example of the social microblogging platform Tumblr. The first chapter is devoted to the discussion of the phenomenon of blogging and microblogging and a description Tumblr as an environment for social interaction. In the second chapter, a linguistic background of the computer-mediated communication is drawn, and speech and writing are juxtaposed in order to compare the two modes of communication. The language of the Internet is presented as sharing features of both. Additionally, this chapter provides an overview of the slang used on Tumblr and discusses the rules governing punctuation in English. The last chapter comprises of an analysis of examples taken from Tumblr in order to show the patterns in the use of non-standard punctuation and other special symbols. Finally, the paper discusses the intentional character of breaking the rules of grammar and how it facilitates and enriches the communicative process.
