Elementy kulturowe w angielskich napisach do polskiego serialu Ślepnąc od świateł: analiza tłumaczenia

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza elementów kulturowych w angielskich napisach do polskiego serialu produkcji HBO Europe Ślepnąc od świateł. Analiza skupia się na decyzjach tłumaczeniowych związanych z użyciem strategii i technik stosowanych w tłumaczeniu elementów kulturowych.Pierwszy rozdział przedstawia teoretyczne aspekty dotyczące elementów kulturowych i składa się z trzech podrozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich zawiera definicję kultury, jej powiązanie z dyskursem, a także typologie elementów kulturowych. Późniejsza część skupiona jest na zjawisku intertekstualności. Rozdział kończy się omówieniem strategii i technik stosowanych w tłumaczeniu elementów kulturowych.W drugim rozdziale omówiono teoretyczne aspekty tłumaczenia audiowizualnego. W rozdziale zawarto definicję tego rodzaju tłumaczenia oraz opisano jego główne metody (tj. dubbing, wersję lektorską oraz napisy) wraz z ich cechami charakterystycznymi, ograniczeniami, a także technikami i strategiami stosowanymi w tłumaczeniu audiowizualnym.Trzeci rozdział poświęcony jest analizie elementów kulturowych w angielskich napisach do polskiego serialu Ślepnąc od świateł. Analizie poddano tłumaczenie w formie napisów autorstwa Zuzanny Kołodziejczyk, Michała Kwiatkowskiego oraz Piotra Strzeleckiego.

The aim of the thesis is to analyse the cultural elements in the English subtitles for the Polish TV series Blinded by the Lights, created by HBO Europe. The analysis focuses on translation decisions concerning the strategies and techniques applied to the cultural elements.The first chapter relates to the theoretical framework and consists of three sections. The first section is about defining culture, its relationship with discourse as well as typologies concerning cultural elements. The second section pertains to different types of intertextuality, a phenomenon that is strictly related with culture. The third section concerns the strategies and techniques of translating cultural elements.The second chapter deals with the theoretical aspects of audiovisual translation. It presents a definition of this type of translation and discusses its main methods (i.e. dubbing, voice-over and subtitles), along with their features, constraints, as well as techniques and strategies employed in the audiovisual modes.The third chapter presents the analysis of the cultural elements in the English subtitles for the Polish TV series Blinded by the Lights. The analysis concerns the translation in the form of subtitles created by Zuzanna Kołodziejczyk, Michał Kwiatkowski and Piotr Strzelecki.
