Lower and higher culture in the literary output of Miron Białoszewski

The subject of this thesis is finding the elements of lower and higher culture in the literary output of Miron Białoszewski. The author describes the everyday life of citizens in the capitol and the atmosphere in Warsaw after the Second World War, using a lot of literary, biblical and historical allusions as well as plastic and musical ones. Białoszewski mentions pre-war folklore fondly and he tries to find it in the modernity. There are full of hidden meanings, symbols and referring to tradition in his literary works. The poet lead a dialogue with tradition, uses and transforms the cultural themes in a very creative way. The literary works of Miron Białoszewski are the marks of his fascination with cultural works.

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest odszukanie w twórczości Mirona Białoszewskiego elementów kultury niskiej i wysokiej. Poprzez liczne aluzje literackie, biblijne, historyczne oraz plastyczne i muzyczne opisuje życie codzienne mieszkańców stolicy, a także warszawski klimat po zakończeniu II wojny światowej. Z sentymentem wspomina przedwojenny folklor i podejmuje próbę odszukania go we współczesności. W działach pełno jest ukrytych znaczeń, symboli i odwołań do tradycji.
