Phenomenon of psychedelia in the 1960s popular music of the United States - based on the creations of The Doors

W połowie lat 60. popularność substancji psychodelicznych na terenie Stanów Zjednoczonych Ameryki gwałtownie wzrosła. W znacznym stopniu wpłynęło to na rozwój sztuki i muzyki rozrywkowej. Amerykańscy artyści wykreowali wówczas nowy rodzaj estetyki określony mianem psychodelii.Powyższa praca stanowi analizę wpływu substancji, takich jak LSD, meskalina i psylocybina na całokształt twórczości zespołu The Doors. Praca składa się z czterech rozdziałów. Pierwszy z nich przedstawia historię psychodelików oraz rozwoju ich popularności na terenie USA. Drugi rozdział stanowi charakterystykę kwartetu z Los Angeles - w tym fragmencie poruszony zostaje temat psychodelicznych doświadczeń, które stanowiły nieodłączny element życia członków zespołu. Kolejny rozdział zawiera dokładną analizę wybranych dzieł The Doors. In the mid-1960s popularity of psychedelic drugs in the United States of America grew rapidly. It had a major impact on the development of art and popular music. American artists have created a new form of aesthetics called psychedelia.The following study investigates the influence of substances such as LSD mescaline and psilocybin on the lifetime achievement of The Doors. The thesis contains four chapters. The first one presents the history of psychedelic drugs and the development of their popularity in the USA. The second chapter examines the characteristic of the quartet from Los Angeles -this part discusses the topic of psychedelic experiences that used to be an inseperable part of band members lives. The next chapter provides the thourough analysis of the songs composed by The Doors. A further part of the work concerns the transience of the phenomenon of psychedelia, that began to lose its value with the beginning of 1970s.Based on the results of analysis, it was concluded that psychedelic drugs had an incredibly inspiring impact on the lifetime achievement of the band - they established the fundamental part of aesthetic used by The Doors.
