About hidden relationships. Between the novel Olga Tokarczuk Poles and selected painting works of Hieronymus Bosch.

Przedmiotem pracy jest ukazanie ukrytych zależności między powieścią Olgi Tokarczuk Bieguni a wybranymi dziełami malarskimi Hieronima Boscha. W tym celu wykorzystane zostały dwie metody badawcze: hermeneutyka i semantyka oraz koncepcje estetyczne wyjaśniające zasadność łączenia literatury i malarstwa. Ponieważ wskazani twórcy tworzyli w odległych epokach, koniecznym było także przywołanie rysu historycznego oraz zwrócenie uwagi, na sposób tworzenia świata przedstawionego przez wskazanych artystów. Praca składa się z wprowadzenia, wyjaśniającego jej interdyscyplinarny charakter oraz trzech integralnych części. Część pierwsza odnosi się do literatury współczesnej i nowatorskiego pisarstwa Olgi Tokarczuk. Cześć druga zwraca uwagę na okres późnego średniowiecza i renesansu, czyli czasów, kiedy żył i tworzył Hieronim Bosch oraz skupia się na sztuce niderlandzkiego malarza. Część trzecia natomiast to poszukiwanie ukrytych zależności w oparciu o trzy główne aspekty: podróż, religię, człowieka. Aspekty te stanowią klucz analiz i w drodze interpretacji wyjaśniają, dlaczego istotne jest połączenie powieści Bieguni z dziełami malarskimi Boscha.

Subject of this thesis it is showing hidden relationships between the novel "Poles" by Olga Tokarczuk and selected painting works of Hieronymus Bosch. For this purpose, author used two research methods: hermeneutics and semantics. Additionally used aesthetic concepts which explain the need to combine literature and painting. Because chosen artists have created in distant epochs, it was necessary to recall the historical outline and focus attention on the process of creating the world presented by them.The thesis consists of an introduction, which explaining interdisciplinary character and three integral parts. The first relates to contemporary literature and innovative writing by Olga Tokarczuk. The second part draws attention to the period of the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, that means on the time when Hieronymus Bosch worked and lived, furthermore focuses on the art of Netherlands painter. The third part is the search for hidden relationships based on three main aspects: travel, religion and man. These aspects are the key of the investigation for the analysis and by way of interpretation explained, why is so important to combining the novel "Poles" with painting works by Bosch.
