Elderly people from Krakow's third age universities in the Jagiellonian Library

Tekst jest sprawozdaniem z podjętej inicjatywy ożywienia współpracy Biblioteki Jagiellońskiej z uniwersytetami trzeciego wieku na terenie Krakowa. Pomysłodawcą zaangażowania bibliotekarzy w upowszechnianie nauki i zbiorów bibliotecznych wśród słuchaczy tych uniwersytetów jest doktor Bartłomiej Gapiński. W artykule zostały zaprezentowane takie formy współpracy jak: wykłady, wycieczki z przewodnikiem po bibliotecznej przestrzeni, prezentacje przygotowywane przez pracowników Sekcji Starych Druków. Główna biblioteka Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego stawia sobie za cel nie tylko pozyskanie tej ważnej grupy społecznej jako czytelników, uczestników wydarzeń kulturalnych na miejscu, ale także zaoferowanie im możliwości korzystania ze zbiorów online.

The text is a report on initiatives aimed at reviving cooperation between the Jagiellonian Library (JL) and the universities of the third age in Krakow. Dr. Bartłomiej Gapiński is the originator of such involvement of the JL. Forms of cooperation with the seniors are presented: lectures for the elderly, organisation of visits to the JL, presentations prepared by the staff of the Early Printed Books Section. The aim of the JL is to attract this important age group both as readers and as participants in cultural events, as well as to fulfil its mission and to offer the possibility of accessing the collections online (in the case of elderly people who are ill, frail, do not leave their homes or are geographically distant).
