Lilith's Garden. Deconstruction of the Story of the Beginning in the Dramatic Poem „Lilith” by Jadwiga Jasieńska-Jaworska, née Ciecierska

Praca jest interpretacją XIX-wiecznego poematu „Lilith” Jadwigi z Ciecierskich Jasieńskiej-Jaworskiej w perspektywie feministycznej. Poddaję analizie sposób, w jaki autorka przedstawia historię biblijnego Raju i dekonstruuje kategorie miłości i prawdy. Postać Lilith staje się w tym odczytaniu kobietą o niejednoznacznej tożsamości, która z jednej strony ukazuje przemocowość wielkich dyskursów, jak narodowy i religijny, które mają władzę wytwarzania, z drugiej: proponuje projekt pozytywny, czyli zwrot ku materialnej jednostkowości jako podstawę budowania etycznego współistnienia.

The thesis is an interpretation of the 19th-century poem 'Lilith' by Jadwiga Jasieńska-Jaworska, née Ciecierska, from a feminist perspective. I analyze the way in which the author presents the story of the biblical Paradise and deconstructs the categories of love and truth. In this reading, the character of Lilith becomes a woman with a nonhomogeneous identity who, on the one hand, shows the violence of grand discourses, such as national and religious ones, which have the power to produce the truth, and on the other hand, proposes a positive project: a turn towards material individuality as the basis for building ethical coexistence.
