Hematopoietic stem cells

Hematopoetyczne komórki macierzyste posiadają dwie ważne cechy: zdolność do nieograniczonej liczby podziałów i przekształcania się w inne typy komórek, które utworzą komórki krwi, tkanki i organy. Komórki te powstają w procesie hematopoezy. Na powstawanie komórek hematopoetycznych ma wpływ mikrośrodowisko krwiotwórcze szpiku. Są pozyskiwane z trzech źródeł: krew pępowinowa, krew obwodowa i szpik kostny. Komórki hematopoetyczne pełnią ważną funkcje w transplantologii i leczeniu różnych chorób. Celem pracy było usystematyzowanie wiadomości dostępnych na ich temat, ocena metod i przydatności komórek krwiotwórczych w transplantacji. Szybki postęp w tej dziedzinie nauki wskazuje na to, że w niedalekiej przyszłości cele pacjentów jak i lekarzy zostaną osiągnięte.

Hematopoietic stem cells have two important characteristics: they are capable of multiplication and transform into other cell types which build blood cells, tissues and organs. These cells arise in the process of hematopoiesis. The formation of hematopoietic cells affect bone marrow hematopoietic microenvironment. They are obtained from three sources: cord blood, peripheral blood and bone marrow. Hematopoietic cells have important function in transplantation and treatment of various diseases. The purpose of this study was to systematize all information and asses methods and usefulness of the hematopoietic stem cells in transplantation. The fast progress in this field designates that in the not too distant future pacients and doctors aim will be achieved.
