Participation of authority in political transition

Treść niniejszej pracy przybliża i poddaje analizie porównawczej przebieg trzech przełomowych transformacji ustrojowych: wielkiej rewolucji francuskiej, rewolucji rosyjskiej z 1905 r. i upadku Polskiej Rzeczpospolitej Ludowej. Przedmiotowe rozważania dotyczą udziału monarchii Ludwika XVI, caratu i PZPR w procesie przemian oraz stopnia przyczynienia się władzy do zmiany systemu rządów. Oprócz zamierzonych działań władz, zwrócono uwagę także na skutki błędów politycznych i podjęto próbę wskazania ich przyczyn. W analizie wykorzystane zostały m.in koncepcje Alexisa de Toqueville’a zawarte w książce „Dawny ustrój i rewolucja” oraz teoria potrójnej rewolucji Clause’a Offe’a opisana w artykule „Kapitalizm jako projekt demokratyczny? Teoria demokracji w obliczu potrójnego przejścia w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej”. W ramach analizy podjęto próbę udowodnienia tezy, zgodnie z którą do ziszczenia się transformacji ustrojowej wymagany jest udział dotychczasowej władzy.

The content of this work presents a comparative analysis of the course of three crucial political transformations: the Great French Revolution, the Russian Revolution of 1905 and the collapse of the People's Republic of Poland. The considerations in question concern the participation of the monarchy of Louis XVI, the tsarism and the Polish United Workers' Party in the process of transformation and the extent to which the authorities contributed to the change of the system of government. In addition to the intended actions of the authorities, attention was also paid to the effects of political mistakes and an attempt was made to identify their causes. The analysis makes use of, among others, Alexis de Toqueville's concepts contained in the book "Old Regime and Revolution" and Clause Offe's theory of triple revolution described in the article "Capitalism as a Democratic Project? A Theory of Democracy in the Face of the Triple Transition in Central and Eastern Europe". The analysis attempts to prove the thesis that the participation of authority is required for the political transition to take place.
