Presentation of information about Covid-19 on selected news websites in Polish and English.

Przedmiotem pracy jest analiza sposobu prezentacji informacji na temat Covid-19 i ich przekazywania przez wybrane portale informacyjne z Polski i z USA. Celem analizy jest znalezienie podobieństw i różnic między serwisami przeciwnymi politycznie, jak również sprawdzenie jakiego rodzaju wiadomości są podawane w języku polskim i w języku angielskim. Pytania badawcze dotyczyły sposobu raportowania o sytuacji związanej z koronawirusem, rodzaju informacji - czy portale podawały informacje nieprawdziwe oraz zasięgu przekazywanych wiadomości. Przytoczono przykłady badań dotyczących dezinformacji w dobie pandemii oraz jakiego rodzaju komunikaty pojawiały się w mediach prezentujących odmienne poglądy polityczne. Do przeprowadzenia analizy artykułów z czterech serwisów został użyty program MAXQDA, w którym stworzono książkę kodową, aby jak najdokładniej odpowiedzieć na postawione pytania.

The subject of this dissertation is the analysis of the method of presenting information on Covid-19 and its communication by selected news websites from Poland and the USA. The purpose of the analysis is to find the similarities and differences between politically opposing websites, as well as to check what kind of news is provided in Polish and in English. The research questions concerned the method of reporting on the situation related to the coronavirus, the type of information - whether the portals provided false information, and the scope of the messages transmitted. Examples of research on disinformation in the pandemic era and what kinds of messages appeared in the media presenting different political views are cited. The MAXQDA program was used to analyze the articles from four websites, in which a code book was created to answer the research questions as accurately as possible.
