Textile industry in India, i.e. from sanskrit inscriptions to the fast fashion trend

Praca dotyczy ewolucji przemysłu tekstylnego w Indiach. Rozpoczynam od analizy sanskryckiej inskrypcji, która ukazuje charakter pracy indyjskiego tkacza oraz pozwala rozeznać się w tym, jaką pozycję społeczną miały gildie tkackie. Następnie analizuję sytuację osób produkujących odzież w Indiach w czasach, gdy Indie były kolonią brytyjską. Ukazuję wpływ filozofii Mohandasa Karamczanda Gandhiego na zjednoczenie kraju i uwolnienie się Indusów spod okupacji. W ostatniej części pracy koncentruję się na zmianach zachodzących w procesie produkcji ubrań współcześnie, a także na wpływie, jaki ten proces ma na środowisko naturalne. Opisuję sytuację osób pracujących w indyjskich szwalniach, a także zmiany następujące na rynku odzieżowym. Staram się ukazać również możliwe skutki tej sytuacji.

The work concerns the evolution of the textile industry in India. I start with an analysis of the Sanskrit inscription, which shows the nature of the work of the Indian weaver and allows us to discern social position of the weaving guilds. Then I analyze the situation of people producing clothing in India at a time when India was a British colony. I show the influence of the philosophy of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi on the unification of the country and the liberation of the Indians from occupation. In the last part of the work, I focus on the changes taking place in the clothes production process today, as well as the impact that this process has on the natural environment. I describe the situation of people working in Indian sewing shops, as well as the changes taking place on the clothing market. I am also trying to show possible consequences of this situation.
