Abstract in English
This introductory chapter aims at providing a brief description and analysis of the widely promoted concept of the Indo-Pacific, with a special focus on a multidimensional approach to security challenges in the region. A special focus is placed on the presidency of Donald Trump and the rising power of China in the context of power transition theory in reference to the so-called Sino-American trade war. This chapter briefly reviews the existing literature on the subject, as well as provides an outline of the structure of the book.
