The role of music in child development during middle childhood - the parents' perspective

Niniejsza praca dotyczy postrzegania roli muzyki w rozwoju dziecka w okresie średniego dzieciństwa przez rodziców. Problem rozpatrywano pod względem pięciu obszarów rozwoju, tj.: fizycznego, psychicznego, emocjonalnego, intelektualnego oraz społecznego. Przedstawiono charakterystykę każdej z tych pięciu stref rozwoju oraz przybliżono właściwości muzyki, a w tym jej rolę w wychowaniu rodzinnym, edukacji szkolnej, jak i również ukazano społeczny charakter muzyki. Uwzględniono także formy kontaktu dzieci z muzyką. Analiza badań własnych wykazała, iż rodzice w dużym stopniu dostrzegają korzystny wpływ muzyki na rozwój dzieci w okresie średniego dzieciństwa. Istotne jest zatem upowszechnianie wiedzy na temat znaczącej roli muzyki w wszechstronnym rozwoju dziecka.

This thesis is concerned with parents' perceptions of the role of music in child development during middle childhood. The issue was considered in terms of five areas of development, namely: physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and social. The characteristics of each of these five zones of development are presented, and the characteristics of music, including its role in family upbringing, school education, as well as the social character of music, are brought to light. Forms of children's contact with music are also considered. The analysis of the own research showed that parents largely perceive the beneficial influence of music on the development of children in middle childhood. It is therefore important to disseminate knowledge about the significant role of music in the all-round development of the child.
