The publishing history of Gabriela Zapolska’s "Fin-de-siècle’istka"

Celem pracy jest zbadanie losów powieści Gabrieli Zapolskiej – "Fin-de-siècle’istki", ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem historii wydań utworu. Na początku omówiona zostaje geneza, a także kwestia finansowa towarzysząca powstaniu powieści. Następnie, ze względu na niewielką popularność tekstu, przywołano fabułę i omówiono problematykę, skupiając się na kreacji głównej bohaterki – Heleny Świeżawskiej. Natomiast ostatni rozdział obejmuje analizę poszczególnych wydań "Fin-de-siècle’istki", poczynając od premierowego druku na łamach „Przeglądu Tygodniowego” aż po ostatnią, elektroniczną publikację, która ukazała się w 2020 roku.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the history of Gabriela Zapolska's novel, "Fin-de-siècle'istka", with a particular focus on the work's publishing history. Firstly, the genesis is discussed, as well as the financial issue surrounding the creation of the novel. Then, due to the low popularity of the text, the plot is recalled and the problems of the work are discussed, focusing on the creation of the main character – Helena Świeżawska. The final chapter includes an analysis of the various editions of "Fin-de-siècle'istka", starting with the premiere printing in “Przegląd Tygodniowy” to the latest electronic publication, which appeared in 2020.
