Niniejsza praca podejmuje problematykę powstania elfoturystyki na terenie Islandii jako nowego rodzaju turystyki. Głównym celem pracy jest ukazanie znaczenia mitologii w turystyce Islandii i jej potencjału w branży turystycznej.Dzisiaj Islandia przyciąga do siebie zarówno turystów, jak i reżyserów, artystów, muzyków, których inspirują nie tylko unikatowe krajobrazy, lecz również bajeczność tego kraju Islandia jest jedynym w swoim rodzaju państwem, którego mieszkańcy wierzą, że od wieków do dzisiaj współistnieją z mitycznymi istotami. To powoduje jeszcze większe zainteresowanie Islandią, jej kulturą i mitologią. Wyspa staje się jedną z najczęściej odwiedzanych państw wśród turystów z całego świata.Próba zainteresowania turystów elfami czy „ukrytym ludem” przyczyniła się do powstania szkoły elfoznawstwa w Reykjaviku (Álfaskólinn), parków (Álfagarðurinn park), festiwali (The Little Elf Festival) oraz wycieczek, poświęconych tematyce elfów (Hidden Worlds' Tours, The Elf Garden, Troll Expeditions Tours, Sleeping Troll”, Private Iceland Mythology & Culture Tour, Śladami elfów). W Islandii popularyzuje się także mitologię przez poprzez obchodzenie świąt z jej elementami (Boże Narodzenie, święto Trettaundinn).Obecność i dostępność produktu turystycznego oraz popyt z nim związany świadczy o tym, że na terenach wyspy powstał nowy rodzaj turystyki, który można nazwać jaką elfoturystyką. Oficjalnie nie jest on jednak rozpoznawany i nie istnieje taka nazwa. Z pewnością pojawi się ona z czasem w branży turystycznej i wtedymożliwe być może Islandia stanie się krajem bajek, elfów a nie jak dotychczas, krajem „lodu i ognia”.

This work deals with the issue of elftourism in Iceland as a new type of tourism. The main purpose of the work is to show the significance of Iceland's tourism mythology and its potential in the tourism industry.Today, Iceland attracts both tourists and movie directors, artists and musicians who are inspired not only by the unique landscapes but also by the greatness of this country. Iceland is a unique nation whose inhabitants believe that they have coexist with mythical creatures for centuries. This brings even more interest to Iceland, its culture and mythology. The island becomes one of the most visited countries among tourists from all over the world.Attempting to attract tourists to the elves or "hidden people" has led to the creation of the elf-school in Reykjavik (Álfaskólinn), the parks (Álfagarðurinn park), the Little Elf Festival and hidden elves tours (Hidden Worlds' Tours, The Elf Garden, Troll Expeditions Tours, Sleeping Troll, Private Iceland Mythology & Culture Tour, Elf Trail). Iceland also promotes mythology by celebrating Christmas with its elements (Christmas, Trettaundinn).The presence and accessibility of the tourist products and the demand associated with it show that the island has developed a new type of tourism, which can be called elftourism. Officially, it is not recognized and does not exist. Certainly it will appear in time in the travel industry, and perhaps Iceland may become a land of fairy tales, elves and not as it is nowadays, a country of "ice and fire".
