Wooden Greek Catholic church in Radruż : a UNESCO World Heritage treasure

W 2023 r. minęła dziesiąta rocznica wpisu drewnianych cerkwi regionu Karpat w Polsce i w Ukrainie na Listę Światowego Dziedzictwa Kulturalnego i Naturalnego UNESCO. Jedną z cerkwi w tym zbiorze jest szesnastowieczna cerkiew drewniana w Radrużu. Jubileusz, to okazja, by przypomnieć cel i idee sformułowania Konwencji UNESCO o ochronie światowego dziedzictwa kulturalnego i naturalnego z 1972 r. Jednocześnie to okazja do charakterystyki Listy Światowego Dziedzictwa oraz wyjaśnienia konstrukcji cerkiewnego wpisu. Wreszcie jubileusz, to okazja by przywołać wyjątkową uniwersalną wartość cerkwi z Radruża oraz wspomnieć o licznym zespole autorów wniosku, którzy reprezentowali środowiska badawcze i gospodarzy obiektów z Polski i Ukrainy.

2023 marked the tenth anniversary of the entry of wooden churches of the Carpathian region in Poland and Ukraine on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. One of the churches in this collection is the 16th century Greek Catholic wooden church in Radruż. The jubilee is an opportunity to recall the purpose and ideas of the formulation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage of 1972. At the same time, it is an opportunity to characterize the World Heritage List and explain the structure of the church entry. Finally, the anniversary is an opportunity to recall the unique universal value of the Greek Catholic church in Radruż and to mention the large team of authors of the application who represented research communities from Poland and Ukraine.
