Workplace aggression

Workplace aggression is a monograph containing theoretical, and empirical aspects of work-related aggressive behaviours. Practical advice on how to cope with them is given. The Authors of this publication investigate the phenomenon of aggression within organizational context. A philosophical discussion is initiated to provide a better understanding of aggression and work-related aggression from the cognitive and evolutionary perspective. Aggressive behaviours are derived from more basic theories than psychological ones, often used to explain human demeanour. Workplace aggression is not limited to mobbing, bullying or harassment. It involves a variety of behaviours - sometimes incidental, unethical or damage unconsciously done. Therefore, three decades of empirical studies and meta-analyses have been presented in the monograph with the emphasis put on different aggressive behaviours and their predictors, and correlates. The Authors also study linkages between aggression and telecommuting during COVID-19 pandemic. Individual as well as situational factors contributing to workplace aggression have been investigated. The most valuable input of this monograph is its final chapter in which the Authors propose how to prevent or manage and cope with workplace aggression using ethics and evolutionary findings.
