The LGBT+ movement in Polish popular culture

Niniejsza dysertacja jest próbą analizy wpływu ruchu osób LGBT+ na polską kulturę popularną. Między innymi zostały przeanalizowane dzieła literatury pięknej, kinematografii, produkcji telewizyjnej, a także działania o charakterze politycznym mające wpływ na kształtowanie świadomości kulturowej. Część teoretyczna skupia się przede wszystkim na wytłumaczeniu podstawowych pojęć związanych z ruchem osób LGBT+ (queer, gender, orientacja seksualna, dyskryminacja, prawa człowieka i inne). Rozdział kontekstowy ukazuje rozmaite wydarzenia historyczne w polskim kontekście odbijające się na postrzeganiu ruchu przez jego członków i resztę społeczeństwa polskiego (np., akcja "Hiacynt", dyskryminacja, miejsca spotkań w czasach PRL itp.). Rozdział trzeci z kolei jest analizą wybranych utworów na obecność motywów LGBT+. Przy pomocy metody hermeneutycznej i porównawczej zbadano, jak wygląda reprezentacja ruchu osób LGBT+ w poszczególnych wytworach popkultury i jakie to ma znaczenie dla polskiego kontekstu politycznego, kulturowego i społecznego.

This dissertation is an attempt to analyze the impact of the LGBT+ movement on Polish popular culture. The analysis was focused on literature, cinematography, television production, as well as political activities influencing the development of cultural awareness. The theoretical part focuses primarily on explaining the basic concepts related to the LGBT+ movement (queer, gender, sexual orientation, discrimination, human rights and others). The contextual chapter shows various historical events in the Polish context that reflect the perception of the movement by its members and the rest of Polish society (e.g. operation Hyacinth, discrimination, meeting spots in the times of the Polish People's Republic and so on). The third chapter is an analysis of selected works for the presence of LGBT + topics. Using the hermeneutic and comparative methods it was investigated what the representation of the LGBT+ movement looks like in the products of Polish popular culture and what significance it has for the Polish political, cultural and social context.
