Religia od zawsze stanowiła olbrzymie źródło inspiracji dla wielu artystów. Poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na pytania dotyczące egzystencji i pochodzenia człowieka skupiały uwagę wielu autorów. Po dokładniejszej analizie zagadnienia zwraca uwagę ogromny wpływ, jaki tematyka religijna wywarła na światową literaturę. Z licznych dzieł o powyższej tematyce inspirację czerpie również branża filmowa, która w ostatnim stuleciu zyskała ogromną popularność. Adaptacje filmowe najsławniejszych dzieł literackich nie są obecnie rzadkością. Pozwalają one reżyserom i aktorom na własną interpretację klasyków światowej literatury i zaprezentowanie ich przy użyciu zupełnie nowych środków, które umożliwia dzisiejsza technika.Jednym z najbardziej znanych niemieckich autorów, który szczegółowo zajmował się aspektami związanymi z religią i tolerancją religijną był Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. Jego dramat „Nathan der Weise” wywołał olbrzymie poruszenie i aż po dzień dzisiejszy uważany jest za punkt odniesienia w niemieckiej literaturze oświeceniowej. Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest analiza kwestii tolerancji religijnej na podstawie dramatu Gottholda Ephraima Lessinga „Nathan der Weise” i adaptacji filmowej Franza Petera Wirtha o tym samym tytule. Porównanie obu utworów ma na celu ukazanie wpływu stereotypów religijnych na relacje międzyludzkie przedstawione w dziele Lessinga.Pierwsza część pracy poświęcona jest filmowi i jego wizji tytułowej problematyki. Uwzględnione w niej zostały filmy podejmujące problem tolerancji religijnej, a także przedstawione najważniejsze informacje związane z epoką oświecenia. Dzięki temu Czytelnik otrzymuje możliwość poznania bliżej epoki, w której żył i tworzył autor omawianego utworu. Następnie Czytelnikowi przybliżona zostaje biografia Gottholda Ephraima Lessinga w odniesieniu do prezentowanej tematyki. Następne rozdziały zawierają inne utwory literackie o zbliżonej tematyce, a także biografię reżysera ekranizacji filmowej, Franza Petera Wirtha. Część empiryczna niniejszej pracy przedstawia analizę postaci w dramacie „Nathan der Weise” wraz z porównaniem z ekranizacją o tej samej nazwie. W analizie wykorzystane zostały środki analizy filmowej i literackiej.

Religion has always been an immense source of inspiration for many artists. The questions about the existence and origin of the human being have attracted the attention of many authors throughout the years. Religious aspects have had an enormous impact on the world literature. They also provide the inspiration for the film industry, which has gained immense popularity in the last century. Nowadays, the film adaptations of the most famous literary works are commonplace. They offer a possibility for film directors and actors to interpret the classics of the world literature in their own way and present them by using completely new means provided by modern technologies.Gotthold Ephraim Lessing was one of the most famous German authors who occupied himself in detail with the aspects related to religion and religious tolerance. His drama "Nathan der Weise" caused a great sensation and is considered as a point of reference in the German Enlightenment literature until today.The purpose of this Master's thesis is to analyse the issue of religious tolerance on the basis of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's drama "Nathan der Weise" and the film adaptation "Nathan der Weise" of Franz Peter Wirth. The comparison of both works aims for showing the impact of religious stereotypes on the interpersonal relationships presented in Lessing's drama.The first part of the Master’s thesis concentrates on the film and its vision of religious tolerance. Because of that, the films concerning the problem of religious tolerance, as well as the most important knowledge related to the Age of Enlightenment have been included in this part. The reader has the opportunity to get to know the literary period in which Gotthold Ephraim Lessing lived and wrote. Followingly, the biography of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing is introduced in relation to the presented subject area. The next chapters contain other literary works on similar subjects, as well as the biography of the film director Franz Peter Wirth. The empirical part of the Master’s thesis presents an analysis of the characters in the drama "Nathan der Weise" along with a comparison with the film adaptation of Franz Peter Wirth. The means of filmic representation have been used during the analysis.

Die Suche nach den wichtigsten Fragen bezüglich der menschlichen Existenz und Herkunft beschäftigt stets die Autoren. Diese Thematik hat einen enormen Einfluss auf die Weltliteratur ausgeübt. Von der zahlreichen Auswahl an religiösen und von der Religion inspirierten Werken, die im Laufe der Zeit entstanden sind, profitiert ebenfalls die Filmbranche, die wesentlich an Popularität gewann. Die Verfilmungen literarischer Werke sind heutzutage keine Neuheit und bieten für viele Regisseure und Schauspieler eine außergewöhnliche Möglichkeit, mithilfe der modernen Technik ihre eigene Interpretation und Vorstellungen in Bezug auf das konkrete Werk an den Tag zu legen.Einer der bekanntesten und einflussreichsten deutschen Autoren, der sich gründlich mit den religiösen Fragen und Problemen der religiösen Toleranz auseinandersetzte, war Gotthold Ephraim Lessing. Sein Drama „Nathan der Weise“ sorgte für großes Aufsehen und gilt bis heute als Musterwerk der Aufklärung.Ein Ziel der vorliegenden Magisterarbeit ist es, die Frage der religiösen Toleranz anhand des von Gotthold Ephraim Lessing geschriebenen Dramas „Nathan der Weise“ unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Darüber hinaus wird eine Analyse und Vergleich mit der Verfilmung von Franz Peter Wirth „Nathan der Weise“ bereitgestellt. Die oben genannte Vorgehensweise hat zum Ziel, den Einfluss der religiösen Vorurteile auf die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen und Toleranz aufzuzeigen und mithilfe des Vergleiches mit der Verfilmung zusammenzufassen.Der erste Teil der Arbeit wird dem Film und seiner Vision der religiösen Problematik gewidmet. Ein Umriss der Epoche, in der Gotthold Ephraim Lessing lebte, wird im ersten Teil beinhaltet. Anhand dessen wird dem Leser ermöglicht, den geschichtlichen Kontext zu erkennen und die Thematik gründlicher zu verstehen. Danach folgt eine kurze Biographie von Gotthold Ephraim Lessing in Bezug auf die präsentierte Thematik. Werke anderer Autoren, die versuchen, die gleiche Problematik aufzuzeigen, sind ein Bestandteil des nächsten Kapitels. Darüber hinaus wird der Leser mit dem Lebenslauf des Regisseurs vertraut gemacht.Der empirische Teil der vorliegenden Magisterarbeit beruht auf dem Vergleich der Figuren im Drama „Nathan der Weise“ und in der Verfilmung von Franz Peter Wirth. In der Analyse werden filmische und literarische Gestaltungsmittel zurate gezogen.
