Determinants of bank's credit ratings

Praca omawia determinanty wpływające na ratingi kredytowe banków. Przedstawione jest w niej rozważanie czy kryteria ocen, którymi kierują się agencje ratingowe są bezsprzecznie słuszne i czy posiadają one faktyczną i merytoryczną wartość. Aby przybliżyć problematykę determinant ratingów kredytowych, praca omawia historię powstania trzech największych agencji ratingowych oraz przebieg ich relacji z systemem finansowym. Następnie przedstawiony jest sposób tworzenia ratingów kredytowych przez jedną z opisywanych agencji, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ratingów wystawianych bankom. Ostatnią część pracy stanowi analiza badań literaturowych na temat konkretnych czynników, które wpływają na ratingi banków.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the determinants affecting bank's credit ratings. It presents a consideration of whether the criteria of rating agencies are unquestionably correct and whether they have real and substantive value. To bring the issue of credit rating determinants closer, the work discusses the history of the creation of the three largest rating agencies and the course of their relationship with the financial system. Subsequently, the method of creating credit ratings by one of the agencies is presented, with particular emphasis on ratings issued to banks. The final part of the work is an analysis of literature research on specific factors that affect banks' ratings.
