The genesis, creation and activity of the so-called 1st triumvirate in Rome (60 / 59-54 BCE)

Celem autora jest ukazanie, jak przez lata rozwijała się kariera polityczna Pompejusza, Krassusa oraz Cezara, akcentując szczególnie zdobywane przez nich zaszczyty i stanowiska, a także momenty, w których przynajmniej dwaj z nich pojawiali się wspólnie na kartach historii – współpracując lub rywalizując ze sobą, aż do śmierci Krassusa w roku 53 p.n.e. Prześledzenie drogi, jaką przeszli owi trzej politycy, a także realiów, w których przyszło im żyć pomoże w zrozumieniu powodów, dla których podjęli się rywalizacji z senatem, a także tego, jak udało im się zdobyć dominującą pozycję w Rzymie na bardzo wiele lat. Początkiem wspólnej dominacji na rzymskiej scenie politycznej Pompejusza, Krassusa i Cezara jest rok 60 p.n.e., kiedy to doszło do zawiązania tzw. I triumwiratu – co jest również niezwykle istotnym elementem poniższej pracy. Dominacja ta trwała przez znaczną część lat 50 I w. p.n.e. i wpłynęła znacznie na sytuację w całym państwie oraz na późniejsze losy Rzymu.

The author's aim is to show how the political careers of Pompey, Crassus and Caesar have developed over the years, emphasizing the honors and positions they won, as well as the moments when at least two of them appeared together in the pages of history - cooperating or competing with each other, until Crassus' death in 53 BCE. Tracing the path that these three politicians took and the realities they lived in will help understand why they rivaled the Senate and how they managed to win the dominant position in Rome for many years. The beginning of the joint domination on the Roman political scene of Pompey, Crassus and Caesar is the year 60 BCE, when an agreement was formed between them - the so-called the first triumvirate - which is also an extremely important element of this work. This domination lasted for a large part of the 50s of the 1st century BCE and significantly influenced the situation throughout the country and the subsequent fate of Rome.
