Intermedialne porównanie dramatu „Wizyta starszej pani” Friedricha Dürrenmatta (1956) z adaptacją filmową Nikolausa Leytnera (2008)

An intermedial comparison between the drama "The Visit" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1956) and the film adaptation by Nikolaus Leytner (2008)

Niniejsza praca magisterska ma na celu analizę porównawczą między dramatem „Wizyta starszej pani” (1956) szwajcarskiego pisarza, dramaturga i teoretyka teatru Friedricha Dürrenmatta a ekranizacją tego utworu przez austriackiego reżysera Nikolausa Leytnera z roku 2008. Część teoretyczna pracy skupia się na przedstawieniu koncepcji teatru F. Dürrenmatta, wyjaśnieniu terminu ‘groteska’, omówieniu tła historycznego oraz poruszeniu problematyki transpozycji utworu literackiego do dzieła ekranowego. Punkt ciężkości analizy porównawczej jest położony na ukazaniu elementów groteski w obydwóch mediach. W tym celu analizie poddane są wybrane elementy takie jakie miejsce akcji oraz wybrane postaci, w tym dwoje bohaterów: tytułowa Claire Zachanassian oraz Alfred Ill, jak również społeczność miasteczka Güllen, a także wybrane sceny: poszczególne trzy spotkania głównych bohaterów w miejscu będącym symbolicznym wspomnieniem ich młodzieńczej miłości, próba ucieczki Alfreda z miasta stanowiąca punkt kulminacyjny oraz śmierć bohatera — scena końcowa. Na koniec zostanie zanalizowana symbolika i znaczenie barw: żółci i złota, czerni i czerwieni w obydwu mediach.

This master's thesis aims at comparative analysis between the drama "The Visit" (1956) by the Swiss writer, playwright and theater theorist Friedrich Dürrenmatt and the film adaptation by the Austrian director Nikolaus Leytner from 2008. The theoretical part of the work focuses on presenting the concept of F. Dürrenmatt’s theater, explaining the term 'grotesque', discussing the historical background and the problems of transposing a literary work to a film version. The focus of the comparative analysis is on showing the elements of the grotesque in both media. For this purpose, selected elements such as the place of action and selected characters are analyzed, including the two main characters: Claire Zachanassian and Alfred Ill, as well as the community of the town of Güllen, and selected scenes: three individual meetings of the main characters in a place that is a symbolic memory of their youthful love, Alfred's attempt to escape from the city and the death of the hero - the final scene. Finally, the symbolism and meaning of the colors: yellow and gold, black and red in both media will be analyzed.

Diese Masterarbeit zielt auf eine vergleichende Analyse zwischen dem Drama „Der Besuch der alten Dame" (1956) vom schweizerischen Schriftsteller, Dramatiker und Theatertheoretiker Friedrich Dürrenmatt und der Verfilmung dieses Werkes vom österreichischen Regisseur Nikolaus Leytner aus dem Jahre 2008 ab. Der theoretische Teil der Arbeit konzentriert sich auf die Darstellung des Konzepts des Dürrenmattischen Theaters, die Erklärung des Begriffes „grotesk“, die Darstellung des historischen Hintergrundes und die Behandlung des Problems der Umsetzung eines literarischen Werks in ein filmisches Werks. Der Schwerpunkt der vergleichenden Analyse liegt auf der Darstellung der Elemente des Grotesken in beiden Medien. Zu diesem Zweck werden ausgewählte Elemente wie der Ort, die ausgewählten Charaktere analysiert, darunter zwei Protagonisten: Claire Zachanassian und Alfred Ill sowie die Bürger der Stadt Güllen und ausgewählte Szenen: drei individuelle Treffen der Hauptfiguren an einem für sie symbolischen Ort, Alfreds Versuch, aus der Stadt zu fliehen und der Tod des Protagonisten. Abschließend werden die Symbolik und Bedeutung der Farben Gelb und Gold, Schwarz und Rot in beiden Medien analysiert.
